Directions:
Heat oil & garlic:
In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant—do not brown.
Add tomato base:
Stir in tomato sauce and tomato paste until smooth and combined.
Season the sauce:
Add oregano, basil, onion powder, red pepper flakes (if using), sugar (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well.
Simmer:
Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
Cool and store:
Let cool before spreading on pizza dough. Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 3 months.
