Pizza Burger With Pepperoni Cheese

01 1 lb ground beef, 80% lean and 20% fat

02 1 lb ground Italian sausage

03 4 hamburger buns

04 Marinara sauce

05 4 slices mozzarella cheese

06 Pepperoni slices

07 Parmesan cheese, optional

08 Butter

09 Pizza seasoning (oregano, basil, marjoram, garlic)

Steps

Step 01

Heat your grill, pan, or preferred cooking surface to high temperature.

Step 02

Combine ground beef, Italian sausage, and pizza seasoning (oregano, basil, marjoram, garlic). Divide mixture into 8 oz portions (or smaller 6 oz if preferred) and shape into patties about 1/2 inch larger than the hamburger buns. Press a thumbprint in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 03

Grill patties for approximately 4 minutes on the first side.

Step 04

Simultaneously, heat marinara sauce in a pan over medium-low heat until warmed. Heat pepperoni slices on a pan or tinfoil on the grill for a couple of minutes.

Step 05

Flip the patties and cook for another 2 to 4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 140°F for medium doneness. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty about a minute before removing from the grill.

Step 06

Place the hamburger buns face down on the grill and toast for 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 07

Place the cooked patties onto the toasted buns. Spoon warm marinara sauce on top, add heated pepperoni slices, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

Tips

  1. Use a thumbprint in the patties to ensure an evenly cooked burger.
  2. Toast the buns briefly to maintain their structure and add flavor.
